Research Blog: Music video conventions
So going in to this project I had to do a little bit of research on some music. Most of the songs I listen to right now are not school appropriate and using the clean version will just sound really bad. So I had to search up clean songs already and just go through them one after the other. I found the song I wanted to because that was the song that I have been listening to since I was little, I just forgot about it. I picked it because the song has like a theme to it. In some of the pop music videos you watch they can have a theme to that to get the audience inserted in to watch the video. In pop music videos you ca see sometimes a theme develop in them that can be motivational. Or some of them there is no story to the video and its usually just people partying and having a good time. Also it could just be shots they take at the beach to them singing the song. Many different ways the artist will record their pop music video. But I want to have a theme or a backstory to my video that goes along with the music. Also in pop music videos the costumes usually change throughout the shots and usually some very colorful clothes. Sometimes in the inappropriate music videos they wear some inappropriate clothing but for this video we will have to keep everything school appropriate. Usually in the costumes the actors and singers are seen wearing lots of makeup so they can be all dressed up or its just for the part they are singing and dancing for. They always have to look their best. The lighting that is usually seen in music videos can be very bright to show off the outfits and bright colors. Also to make sure they can see the actors and the singer. In most of these music videos you can see many different shot angles taken in the video. They might have a close up of the singer of them singing the music they created. Or it might be a wide shot to get everyone dancing and having a great time or to even show where the shot is being taken. The sound that you can see being used might be gigantic or non-diegetic sound. This could be either the singer is singing or lip syncing.
