Research Blog: Commercial Conventions

 My idea for a commercial was going to be like a Wilson glove commercial. Which would be more like a Nike or Dick's sporting goods commercial. I picked this commercial because baseball means a lot to me and seems like a fun and exciting commercial. 

  • In these commercials these actors can be seen wearing athletic gear or like sneakers and shorts and a T-shirt.
  • The props that can be seen in these commercials like Nike might be the water bottles, shoes and even sports equipment. These props can be anything that can be seen in someone playing any sports or just even working out. 
  • The actors that you might see in these commercials might be little kids playing little league and look like they are having the best time of their life. Or they could be younger adults that are fit and very athletic. There could be other people looking unathletic or not very fit but they could be motivated and anyone can play any sport they desire. 
  • The point these commercials would like to get across is to say how much fun is playing with getting their sporting equipment or they help with little leagues to give kids options to play. Also with Nike commercials they want to motivate people or get people motivated. 
  • The biggest thing in these commercials is they use big name celebrities' in their commercials to show they use their product. They want to show the audience that they use their product so the audience should too. 
In the Nike commercials the code they use is usually their slogan "JUST DO IT." This slogan Nike uses is to get the audience motivate to do anything to believe they can do or desire to do. With Dick's Sporting goods they believe that anyone can play the sports they desire to play no matter what they look like. Which will get these people to buy their products because they believe in good causes. Usually in the Nike commercials using the product they commercial is to show their symbol and for people to know its a Nike commercial because their symbol is very recognizable. In the Dicks Commercial they love to be apart of little leagues. My commercial is going to be based on Dicks and Nike.

 I am Gavin Gonzalez, I am a junior at Fort Lauderdale Highschool. In this filming project I decided to work by myself for this project. I would rather depend on myself to get everything done. I can't rely on other kids to help me in this project. It's like a 50/50 chance you are taking. This person you can work with can be very controlling and take over the whole project which sucks. Or they never do anything and expect you to do it all. Or you might not be able to communicate with them.  This project was definitely a different and new experience. There was a lot of new things I learned from this project. I learned how to add music to my video for the first time. Even though we basically had to have music in the video. It also was a much longer video that I was making and planning for which I thought was going to be harder but it really wasn't. It was like making any of the other videos I made. Just had to make sure I had a good plan and good schedule. With the storyboard it has changed because nobody had to lip sync to the song. I had enough video that if I added that it would have made the video too long. So I decided to cut that out of the video. Also the setting changes a little it wouldn't be in parents lake house I did it in the front yard and I also never had a shot in the garage. Creative Critical Reflection Music Video

 Usually in pop music videos they are just being followed by the camera and singing. They usually have backup dancers to dance in sync. They are usually showing off the money how much money they have or the fancy cars they have. I didn't follow how those usual pop music videos look. I wanted to tell a story to this song. I wanted to have a theme behind the song for people to see. I wanted the video to be different or special not a normal pop song. Always good to be a little different. This video actually does cover some issues in the real world. That was basically the theme I was going for. It represents the issue of bullying and people just being brought down in life. This is for them to push through and don't listen to what they have to say. Like before it engages with the audience due to the theme. Engages with audience due to the story it is telling.
